This past weekend, we hosted our third group climbing session in Crystal City at the Movement Gym. While there were many familiar faces, a few new students joined as well.
As the session began, students warmed up–some in larger groups, while others opted to prepare individually. We kicked off the day with bouldering, with hopes of working up to top rope climbing by the end.
Throughout the session, students were able to branch out and try various bouldering levels, often teaming up when someone faced a tricky route. One particular V6 climb kept many entertained, as climbers made several valiant attempts to fling themselves across the wall and catch the next hold. While only about half succeeded, the effort was still impressive.
In addition to climbing, students also got around to trying new moves, including their back flips, front flips, and an almost-successful quart! As we wrapped up, students finally got a chance to try top rope climbing, and the day concluded with a group interview led by tjTODAY editor Hannah Liu.
We’re thankful everybody was able to join us. Keep an eye out for a TJClimbing article in tjTODAY’s October issue! We hope to see you again soon at our next session!
